Over the next twelve weeks the Happiness Adventure shares with you the powerful questions that will lay a foundation for you to make 2010 your happiest and best year yet. At the start of each week simply reflect on the question and give yourself permission to draw the answers to you during the week ahead.
You don't need to analyse or rush to solutions. Simply notice and observe what comes up for you as you explore your answers. Take a few moments at the end of each week to journal the key insights you have gained. Each question builds on the one before and early in 2010 we will be entering the next stage of the Adventure as we begin to apply this knowledge to building lasting habits of happiness.
Here is your SECOND question:
What do you want MORE of in your life?
Last week I asked you to think of the things you DON'T want in your life. It's not a question to dwell on generally because thinking about what you don't want tends to make you focus on that thing, and creates even more of it. Still, it is an important first step in opening up your thinking which is why it was our first happiness question.
I'll bet you naturally began to think about what you DO want instead, and if you didn't (or even if you did) I want you this week to do just that.
What do you want? What do you really, really want? Again, consider tangible things, circumstances and emotions as you reflect on this question. What keeps coming up as you consider the things you would like more of?
It's OK to want things you don't yet have. As you do that, notice when you begin to feel a sense of lack and consciously move that emotion of scarcity to one of abundance. Imagine yourself having this thing now, and say to yourself that you are already happy and grateful for where you are now, that is moving you forward to what you want.
The important thing this week is to start to build up a list of all the good things and feelings that you want to have more of in your life. Notice what kind of things and feelings show up there. Adjust your desires as you go by stepping into each of them and trying them on for size. Do you really want this thing or this feeling, or do you simply wish for it? It remains a wish unfulfilled until there is a want that makes you WANT to take some action towards it...
Until next week...
As ever, be happy NOW
there will never be a better time.
