Over the coming weeks the Happiness Adventure shares with you the powerful questions that will lay a foundation for you to make 2010 your happiest and best year yet. At the start of each week simply reflect on the question and give yourself permission to draw the answers to you during the week ahead.
You don't need to analyse or rush to solutions. Simply notice and observe what comes up for you as you explore your answers. Take a few moments at the end of each week to journal the key insights you have gained. Each question builds on the one before and early in 2010 we will be entering the next stage of the Adventure as we begin to apply this knowledge to building lasting habits of happiness.
Here is your THIRD question:
What are you doing?
Noticing the activities that you regularly choose to do is an important part of defining your route to happiness. We are of course, human beings, NOT human doings - but we rarely behave like that. We live our lives ruled by TODO lists and there are many people who would enter into a mild panic if they were faced with a blank stretch of time and nothing to do.
Creation is a huge part of happiness. We are born to shape our worlds to our own and other's satisfaction. Yet, so many of the "doings" leave us stressed at best; empty and unfulfilled at worst.
So this week, observe everything that you DO. Why do you do it? What purpose does it serve for your happiness? A sub question you can ask yourself regularly as you go about your day is this:
Is what I am doing right now giving, or leading me to happiness?
Remember the point is not to make changes - unless you are inspired to DO so. The main point is to observe and reflect. As you bring your "doings" into awareness, your happy answers begin to emerge.
As a very relevant personal observation - some of you will have noticed that there has been a little gap between week two and week three of this series of powerful questions. And that's down to more DOING at my end. A great deal of that has made me happy. Yet as I began to reflect on the question myself I realised that NOT writing this series was making me feel unhappy. So my apologies to my regular readers, and here I am back again, on track for my own happiness and I trust, ready to escort those of you on the journey. Thank you for waiting patiently!
Be happy now
